Tapas Culture
Tapas y raciones
Going for tapas is a social way to eat in Spain: people order something to share and talk without rushing.
In many bars, people order larger shared plates or tapas for the middle of the table. The phrase "Can you bring us some patatas bravas?" sounds natural and friendly.
Pedir y pagar
It is common to order at the bar or get the waiter’s attention with "perdona." To finish, say "the bill, please" or ask whether you can pay by card.
Spain note
In some cities the tapa comes with the drink, but it is not a rule across the whole country.
