Frequently asked questions

How do I get started?

Open the web app at app.spanishpilot.com. On first launch you'll be taken through a short placement quiz to set your starting world, then you can jump straight into lessons. App Store and Google Play links appear on the site only when public listings are configured.

Is SpanishPilot free?

Yes - the core app is free to use. Supported mobile app versions may offer an optional one-time Pro unlock through App Store or Google Play billing. It is not a subscription.

How do I purchase or restore Pro?

Where Pro is available in a supported mobile app version, open the Pro option in settings or at a Pro-gated feature. To restore a previous purchase, tap "Restore Purchases" in the Pro or settings screen. Restoring uses your Apple or Google account to verify the original purchase.

How do refunds work?

App Store and Google Play purchases are usually refunded through the marketplace account that processed the payment. See the Terms of Use for the refund and withdrawal details, or contact support if you need help finding the right route.

Can I use SpanishPilot offline?

Yes. Bundled lessons, vocabulary, grammar, and your progress are designed to work from local device storage. An internet connection may be needed for speech recognition, deployment updates, or restoring a mobile Pro purchase.

What is Spain Spanish / Castilian Spanish?

SpanishPilot teaches the Spanish spoken in Spain — known as Castilian (castellano). This means the "th" pronunciation for "c" and "z", Spain-specific vocabulary and idioms, and cultural references grounded in everyday life in Spain, not Latin America.

What are the four worlds?

Plaza Mayor (A1 Beginner), Barrio Vivo (A2 Elementary), Camino del Norte (B1 Intermediate), and Cumbre Ibérica (B2–C1 Advanced). Each world is a structured journey through vocabulary, grammar, conversations, and culture at that level.

How does the streak system work?

Earn XP each day by completing lessons or reviews. Study on consecutive days to build your streak. Streak shields protect your streak if you miss a day — you can earn shields by studying extra and spending them when you need a day off.

Where is my data stored?

SpanishPilot is local-first: your progress, XP, streaks, and routine learning data are stored locally and are not sent to SpanishPilot servers. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

How do I delete my data?

Uninstall the app to remove all learning data. On the web app at app.spanishpilot.com, clear the site's browser data (IndexedDB and cache) via your browser settings.

Is my progress included in Android cloud backup or device transfer?

No. The current Android app excludes app databases and shared preferences from Android cloud backup and device-transfer backup. Use Export Backup in settings if you want a manual JSON copy of local progress.

The app isn't working — what should I do?

Try closing and reopening the app or browser tab. If the problem persists, please contact us with what went wrong and the device or browser you use.
